Mr. Farrell's 5th Grade Class

Our kids did a fantastic job with all of the CSAP testing!  I must extend an enormous THANK YOU to all of the parents that provided healthy snacks for our students during the long hours of testing!

Everyone has transitioned very nicely back to the normal school scedule.  5th grade has started their 'In School,' end of year Research Project, and are off to a fantastic start!  This project allows each student to look deeper into a Core History or Science topic we have learned about throughout the year.  It is a lot of fun to see the topics that clicked with certain students and what they really want to learn more about.  They are researching with the internet, books, interviews, magazines, and encyclopedias.

Here is just a quick update on how hard these kids have been working....The Civil War Unit was a huge success and the novel presentations were out of this world!  Students created websites, SmartBoard presentations, PowerPoints, Timelines, and we even had a T-Shirt!  All to display learning after reading different novels!  As we close in on the end of the second quarter they are all working extra hard in writing, editing, and illustrating their own Chilren's Books and also preparing PowerPoint presentations on Native and Meso Americans.  I can't express how amazed and how proud I am of these kids every single day!  This class ROCKS!

The Halloween Parade is only a little more than 1 week away!  It's always a fun time around here!
October 29:

Come to school in costume, parade outside (hopefully!) at 8:45 a.m. and parties to follow… for most of you.   The 5th Grade party will begin after the parade around 9:30 and end at 10:40.    For those not wanting to participate, that’s fine. The library will be open.
